Our Highlights
Our journey is ongoing; at any one time there are things about our products that we would like to improve which means we are constantly making changes to our formulations as new science and ingredients becomes available. It’s important to remember to stop and enjoy the journey so here are a few of the highlights we’ve celebrated along the way.
2011 Canstar Blue Award
ecostore laundry detergent came out on top in a recent survey by Canstar Blue, beating big brands like Persil, Reflect, and Fab. The survey asked shoppers to rate their satisfaction with their laundry detergent in seven categories: overall satisfaction, price, cleaning quality, number of washes, environmental friendliness and smell and feel of clothes. Our laundry detergent came out on top receiving a five star rating in six categories including overall satisfaction.

2011 Gold and Silver design awards for packaging
Our design partners Special Group picked up gold and silver awards for our packaging at the New Zealand Design Awards. Over the years we’ve been lucky to work with fantastic designers and artists to create something that we feel incredibly proud of.
2011 Gained Carbon Zero manufacturing certification
A demonstration of our proactive environmental leadership with regard to carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and their impact on climate change.2010 Ray Avery is announced winner of the inaugural New Zealander of the Year For his invention of medical devices that save the sight and lives of millions of the world’s poor.
2010 Knighthood for Ray Avery Ray receives well deserved recognition for developing low cost and sustainable solutions to fight global poverty and health issues, including special lenses to counter cataract blindness.
2010 Gained Kosher manufacturing certification
Kosher certification typically relates to food which is why our licence agreement specifically relates to our dishwashing products – ensuring there is no contamination of Kosher certified food from our detergents.
2010 ecostore gains nationwide recognition for sustainability
ecostore is the only small to medium sized enterprise (SME) cited by kiwis as sustainable in a Colmar Brunton poll of 2,500 New Zealanders.
2010 Green Palm Certification We are one of two NZ companies who are affiliate members of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), a body tasked with ensuring responsible and sustainable palm oil production.

2009 ecostore Laundry powder proven to be safer and healthier
Independent tests confirm our laundry powder has lowest total alkalinity in waste water of any laundry powder in Australasia – 1st in ‘Front Loader’ category, 3rd in ‘Top Loader’ (Lanfax Laboratories 2009). This means the wash water is safer, with no irritating residues up against your skin from your clothes and it improves the quality of your grey water making it safer to re-use on your garden, lawns and trees.
2009 Launch NZ’s first fully recyclable spray trigger and bottle
Our revolutionary spray cleaner bottle has no metal parts in the trigger making it the first fully recyclable plastic spray bottle.
2004 Sir Ray Avery becomes lead formulator for ecostore
Sir Ray Avery was also New Zealander of the year in 2010 and recipient of a Sir Peter Blake Medal for his groundbreaking work and visionary leadership is improving the lives of millions of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people.
2002 Malcolm receives Green Ribbon Award
for ‘Outstanding Achievement in Raising Awareness of Environmental Issues’ from the NZ Ministry for the Environment.
